Generation and modification of tendon profiles and specification of the physical parameters / Definition of stressing limits for pre-stressing tendons

SettingDescription
Tendon from, Tendon to, Step Tendon profiles to be defined or modified
Description Descriptive text for the tendon profile(s) (max. 80 characters)
Tendon geom. Type of the tendon profile with respect to the geometry definition
SettingDescription
Normal Tendon profile used in the analysis with own geometry definition
Master profile Pseudo tendon profile with the geometry used as template
Slave profile Tendon profile with the geometry taken from a master profile
Master profile Number of the related master tendon profile defining the tendon geometry (only available for Tendon geom. of the type Slave profile)
Slave bounds Start/End position of the slave tendon within the first/last element given by the ratio x/l. (Note: For the end position the default value of 0.0 is interpreted as 1.0 (i.e. the end of the element)).
Material Tendon material - Selection from the list (Note: The material must have been imported first into the database(File > Load Default Properties )).
Tendon type
SettingDescription
Internal Current tendon profile is a post-tensioned bonded internal prestressing tendon
External Assign current tendon to be a post-tensioned unbonded external tendon
Pre-tensioned Assign current tendon to be a pre-tensioned tendon (set of strands)
Number Number of tendons in the tendon profile(s) (for each if from/to/step specified)
At Nominal area of one tendon of the tendon profile
Ad Nominal area of one duct of the tendon profile
Friction Coefficient of friction between the tendon and the duct
Beta Accidental deviation angle (Angle/Length)

(Refer to the User Manual for checking   the difference to the "Wobble factor" specified in various design codes!)

Beta can be evaluated automatically from the Wobble factor which can be input when clicking the drop-down menu. (The value for Friction must have been defined first in order to be able to evaluate Beta).

PT-Force Nominal prestressing force of pre-tensioned tendons (force in the tendon before cutting the connection to the external anchor points). In draped tendons the force is related to the direction of a straight connection between start and end point, assuming hold down forces acting normal to this direction.
Note: The prestressing force of post-tensioned tendons and its development due to friction is defined in Schedule > Stages > Tendon actions.
sl-b, sl-e Sleeve lengths at begin and end of the tendon(s) (mainly for pre-tensioned tendons)
dl-b, dl-e Development lengths at begin and end of the tendon(s) (for pre-tensioned tendons - Type Pre-tensioned).
Stress Optimization Options which allow for defining the stress limits for prestressing tendons generally prescribed by the respective design codes

The values can be defined by the factor Fact. of SIGP (see Schedule > Stages > Tendon Actions ) or directly be given as stress values Sigma (the values will be recalculated from one another).

Default values are automatically set according to the selected design code of the project (currently only implemented for AASHTO LRFD, EC and DIN-FB). Standard default values are set for all other codes.

The limits are considered within the stressing actions of the tendons in Schedule > Stages > Tendon Actions. The respective option "Optimize" has to be checked there within the respective stressing action (see  Schedule > Stages > Tendon Actions ).

During tensioning Allowable stress in the tendon during tensioning
After tensioning at anchorage Allowable stress in the tendon at the anchorages (i.e. begin and end of the tendon) immediately after tensioning and anchoring. Note: Only relevant for some design codes (e.g. AASHTO LRFD). In general the value would be set to the same as below.
After tensioning along tendon Allowable stress in the tendon elsewhere along the length of the tendon away from anchorages immediately after tensioning and anchoring.
